The Fallen

Interrogator-Chaplain Black Pearls & Calibanite Schism Dossier

When Lion El'Jonson banished Luther and five hundred veteran Dark Angels back to Caliban after the Sarosh incident—ostensibly to accelerate recruitment, though corroded by pride and jealousy—the seeds of the Fallen were sown. For fifty years, Luther watched Imperial industrialists strip-mine Caliban's ancient forests and reduce its knightly aristocracy to serfs, while deep beneath the planet's crust, the primordial warp-entity known as the 'Ouroboros' whispered to the dispossessed Terran and Calibanite Legionaries.

When the Lion returned after the Siege of Terra and Caliban's orbital defence lasers opened fire on his fleet, the resulting bombardment and warp-rift shattered the planet and flung roughly thirty thousand Fallen Angels across ten millennia of space and time. Every time an Interrogator-Chaplain forces a captured Fallen to repent before death, a single 'Black Pearl' is added to his Rosarius; if the prisoner refuses, his agony lasts for centuries.
